ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು!
ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ 7



ಗಾಲಾ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಚಿಲಿಪಿಲಿ ಕೇಳಿ  ಕಣ್ಣು ಬಿಟ್ಟ ಅದ್ವಿಕಾ  ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಬಳಿ ಓಡಿದಳು.  ಹಸಿರು ಹುಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಾಸಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಗಾಲಾ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳು ಹೆಕ್ಕಿ ಹೆಕ್ಕಿ ಏನನ್ನೋ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಅಪ್ಪ ಮತ್ತು ಅಮ್ಮ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಗಿಡಗಳ  ಆರೈಕೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. 
" ಅಪ್ಪಾ! ಅಮ್ಮಾ! ಬೇಗ ಬನ್ನಿ! ನಿಮಗೊಂದು ಸರ್ಪ್ರೈಸ್ ತೋರಿಸ್ತೀನಿ! " ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಹೊರಕ್ಕೆ ತಲೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಕೂಗಿದಳು ಅದ್ದು. 
" ಓ ಎದ್ದೆಯಾ? ಗುಡ್ ಮಾರ್ನಿಂಗ್ ಮರಿ! " ಅಪ್ಪ ನೀರು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ  ಪೈಪನ್ನು ಸುರುಳಿ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತ ನಗು ಮುಖದಿಂದ ಸುಪ್ರಬಾತ ಹೇಳಿದರು. 
" ಅದ್ದು! ಹೋಗಿ ಮುಖ ತೊಳಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ! ತಿಂಡಿ ತಿನ್ನುವಿಯಂತೆ! " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಅಮ್ಮ ಗುಡಿಸಿದ ಒಣ ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಕಸದ ಡಬ್ಬಿಗೆ ತುಂಬಿದಳು. 
" ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಅದೆಲ್ಲ ಆಮೇಲೆ! ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸರ್ಪ್ರೈಸ್ ತಂದಿದ್ದೀನಿ! ಬೇಗ ಬನ್ನಿ, ತೋರಿಸ್ತೀನಿ! " ಎಂದವಳೇ ಕೋಣೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಓಡಿದಳು.  ಅಪ್ಪ ಅಮ್ಮ ಬರೋ ಮುನ್ನ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ತಯಾರಾಗಿ ಇಡಬೇಕು! ಎಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಚೀಲ?
ಅದ್ದು ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತ ಕಣ್ಣಾಡಿಸಿದಳು. ಆಗೋ ನನ್ನ ಚೀಲ! ಅವಳು ಹೆಗಲ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ  ಈ ಚೀಲದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ಡೈನೋ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಇರಿಸಿ ತಂದಿದ್ದು?  ಅವಸರ ಅವಸರವಾಗಿ ಚೀಲವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದ ಅದ್ದು ದಿಗ್ಬ್ರಾಂತಳಾದಳು! 
" ಅದ್ದು! ಇನ್ನೂ ಮುಖ ತೊಳೀಲಿಲ್ವಾ? " ಅಮ್ಮ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅದ್ದುವಿಗೆ ತಡೆಯಲಾರದ ದುಃಖ ಉಕ್ಕಿ ಬರಿತ್ತಿತು. 
" ಅಮ್ಮ! ನನ್ನ ಚೀಲ ಕ್ಲೀನ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ಯಾ? " 
" ನಾನೇನೂ ಕ್ಲೀನ್ ಮಾಡ್ಲಿಲ್ವಲ್ಲಾ? "
" ಮತ್ತೆ? ನಾನು ಅದ್ರಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನ ಸರ್ಪ್ರೈಸ್ ಕಾಣಿಸ್ತಿಲ್ಲ? " ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ತುಳುಕಿತು. 
" ಮೊದ್ಲು ಮುಖ ತೊಳೆದು ತಿಂಡಿ ತಿನ್ನು! ಆಮೇಲೆ .... "
" ಮೊದ್ಲು ನನ್ಗೆ ಅದು ಬೇಕು! " ಎಂದು ಸ್ವರ ತೆಗೆದಳು ಅದ್ದು. 
" ಅದು ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ?" ಎಂದಳು ಅಮ್ಮ ಅಸಹನೆಯಿಂದ. 
" ಅದೇ! ಅಪ್ಪನ್ಗೂ ನಿನ್ಗೂ  ಸರ್ಪ್ರೈಸ್ ಕೊಡ್ಬೇಕು ಅಂದ್ಕೊಂಡ್ನಲ್ಲ! ಅದು ಕಾಣಿಸ್ತಿಲ್ಲ! " ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅದ್ದು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಳಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದಳು.
" ಬೆಳಗೆದ್ದು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ಯಾ ರಾಮಾಯಣ? ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಾದ್ರೆ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷ ತುಂಬತ್ತೆ! ಇನ್ನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಗೂ ಹಾಗೆ ರಗಳೆ ಮಾಡ್ತಿಯ ! ನಡಿ ಮುಖ ತೊಳಿ! " 
ಬಲವಂತದಿಂದ  ಅಮ್ಮ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹಲ್ಲುಜ್ಜಿಸಿ ಮುಖ ತೊಳೆಸಿದಾಗ ಅದ್ದು ಗಟ್ಟಿ ಸ್ವರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದಳು. 
" ಅದ್ದೂ! ಬಾ ಮರಿ! ಏನು ಕಾಣಿಸ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಹೇಳು! ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಸೇರಿ ಹುಡುಕೋಣ! " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಅಪ್ಪ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೊಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರು. 
 "  ನೆನ್ನೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ನಾನು ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ವಿ.  ಆವಾಗ ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡ್ತಲ್ಲ ಆ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆ ಕಾಣಿಸ್ತಾ ಇಲ್ಲ !"
" ಏನು ? ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ಯಾ ?" 
" ಹೌದು ಅಪ್ಪ! " ಎಂದ ಅದ್ದು, ತಾನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಜೊತೆ  ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾರಿ ಹೋದದ್ದು, ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡದ್ದು, ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸನಿಂದ  ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದು, ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಉಡುಗೊರೆಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟದ್ದು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ  ಬಿಕ್ಕುತ್ತಲೇ ವಿವರಿಸಿದಳು.
" ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲ ಅರ್ಥವಾಯಿತು! " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಅಪ್ಪ ತನ್ನ ಮುಂದಿದ್ದ ಲ್ಯಾಪ್ ಟಾಪನ್ನು  ತೆರೆದರು. 
" ಇಲ್ನೋಡು ? ಇದನ್ನೇ ನೀನು  ನೋಡಿದ್ಯಾ? ಇದೇ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನ ಕೊಡ್ತಾ?"  ಅಪ್ಪ ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದೊಂದಾಗಿ ತೋರಿಸಿ ಕೇಳಿದರು.  
ಅದ್ದು ಅಮ್ಮ ತಿನ್ನಿಸಿದ ದೋಸೆಯನ್ನು ನುಂಗುತ್ತ " ಹೌದಪ್ಪಾ ! ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದು ಇಂತದ್ದೇ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್ ! " ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದಳು. ಒಂದು ಲೋಟ ಹಾಲನ್ನೂ  ಕುಡಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಳು ಶಾಂತವಾದಳು. 
" ಅಪ್ಪ! ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆ ಹುಡುಕೋಣ ಬಾ ! "
" ಇರು! ಇರು! ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಹೇಳು ಮೊದ್ಲು!"
" ಏನಪ್ಪಾ?" 
"ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಡ್ನಿಯಿಂದ ಬೆಂಗ್ಳೂರಲ್ಲಿರೋ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಟೈಮ್ ಆಗತ್ತೆ ಹೇಳು !"
" ತುಂಬಾ ಟೈಮ್ ಆಗತ್ತೆ!" ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು. 
" ಸಿಡ್ನಿಯಿಂದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಪ್ಲೇನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಹದಿಮೂರು ಗಂಟೆಗಳು  ಮತ್ತು ಹದಿನೈದು ನಿಮಿಷಗಳ ಕಾಲವಾಗತ್ತೆ! ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೂ ಟೈಮ್ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಎಷ್ಟು ಗೊತ್ತೇ ? "
" ಟೈಮ್ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ? " ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.
" ನಮಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಟು ಗಂಟೆ ಬ್ರೇಕ್ಫಾಸ್ಟ್ ಟೈಮ್. ಆದ್ರೆ  ಅಜ್ಜಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ 
ಬೆಳಕೇ ಹರಿದಿಲ್ಲ. "
" ಹೌದಾ ಅಪ್ಪ ? ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಮಲಗೇ ಇರ್ತಾಳಾ ?"
 " ಹೌದು ಮರಿ ! ನಾವು ಅಜ್ಜಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು ಐದು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಮುಂದಿದ್ದೀವಿ !ಅಷ್ಟೇ ! ಹಾಗೂ ಅಜ್ಜಿಯ ಬಳಿ ಹೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಟೈಮ್ ಹಿಡಿಸತ್ತೆ ಅಲ್ವೇ ?"
"ಹುಂ ! ಪ್ಲೇನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತು ಕೂತು ತುಂಬಾ ಬೇಜಾರಾಗತ್ತೆ!"
" ಅದೇ ರೀತಿ ನಾವು ಡೈನೋಸರ್ಗಳಿಂದ ಅದೆಷ್ಟೋ  ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಅಂಡ್ ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಗಂಟೆಗಳ  ಕಾಲ ಮುಂದಿದ್ದೀವಿ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ  ಹೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಅದೆಷ್ಟೋ ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಟೈಮ್ ಬೇಕಾಗತ್ತೆ! ಅಲ್ವೇ ? " ಅಪ್ಪ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಮುಖವನ್ನೇ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾ ಕೇಳಿದರು. 
" ಹೌದಪ್ಪ! " 
" ಹಾಗಾದ್ರೆ ನೀನು ಒಂದೇ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಷ್ಟು ದೂರ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು ಹೇಗೆ? "
ಅದ್ದು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದಳು. 
" ನೀನು  ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಜೊತೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದು, ಡೈನೋಸರ್ಗಳನ್ನ ನೋಡಿದ್ದು ಎಲ್ಲ ನಿಜವಲ್ಲ ಮರಿ! ಹಾಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದು ನಿನ್ನ ಕನಸಲ್ಲಿ!" ಎಂದರು ಅಪ್ಪ. 
" ಹೌದಾ ಅಪ್ಪಾ? ಎಲ್ಲ ಬರಿ ಕನಸೇ? "
" ಹೌದು ಮರಿ! ಬಹಳ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕನಸು!"
" ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ  ಮೊಟ್ಟೆ ಕೊಡ್ತೂಂತ ಎಷ್ಟು ಖುಷಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೆ!" ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು ನಿರಾಶೆಯಿಂದ. 
" ನಿನ್ನ ಷೋ ಬ್ಯಾಗಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿದೇ ಅಂತ ನೋಡ್ಲೇ ಇಲ್ವಲ್ಲ! ಬಾ  ನೋಡೋಣ! " ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೊಳಪಿನ ಷೋ ಬ್ಯಾಗನ್ನು ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕೈಗಿಟ್ಟು ಅವಳ ಗಮನ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿದಳು.
ಅದ್ದು ಬ್ಯಾಗಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ಸಾಮಾನು ತೆಗೆದು ಮೇಜಿನಮೇಲಿಟ್ಟಳು.  

ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಟೋಪಿ. 
ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ವಾಚ್. 
ರೂಪಾಂತರಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂತಹ ರಬ್ಬರ್ ಡೈನೋಸರ್. 
ಭಯಂಕರವಾಗಿ ಬಾಯಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್. 
ಒಂದು ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಟ್ ತುಂಬ ಬಣ್ಣ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ಗಳು. 
ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ ಹೊರತೆಗೆದ ವಸ್ತು ಕಂಡು ಅದ್ದು ಅಪ್ಪನ ತೊಡಯಿಂದ ಎಗರಿ ಇಳಿದು ಕುಣಿದಾಡ ತೊಡಗಿದಳು. 
"ಡೈನೋ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆ!"
ಗಾರೆಯಿಂದಾದ ಆ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಅದರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದ ಸಣ್ಣ ಉಳಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊರೆದು ಕೊರೆದು ಕೆತ್ತಿ ಕೆತ್ತಿ ತೆಗೆದಾಗ ಒಳಗಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದಿತು ಒಂದು ನೀಲಿ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಪುಟಾಣಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್! 

" ಮರಿ! ಅಪ್ಪಾ! ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿ! " ಎಂದು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿದಳು ಅದ್ದು!

                                                                                                                               ಮುಗಿಯಿತು.

ADDU IN DINOSAUR LAND

Chapter - 7

Addu woke up to  the chirping of Galah birds.

She opened the window drapes and saw the Galahs pecking for food on the fresh green lawn.

Her parents were busy gardening.

“ Appa ! Amma ! ”  Called out Addu.  “ Come to my room ! I  have a Surprise for you ! ” 

“ Good Morning , Dear ! ”  Called out Appa , rolling up the hosepipe.

“ Addu ! Go brush your teeth ....I’ll get your breakfast ”  Said Mother , dumping the dry leaves she had swept up  into the garbage can.

But Addu was breathless with excitement.  “All that later, Amma ! Come see my Surprise first ! ” 

She ran into the room, towards the bedside table, to fetch the Dino egg from her bag, before her parents came in.

Now , where was the bag ? .....oh, there it was , in the shelf below. Hadn’t she kept  the Dino Egg given by Mother Bronto safely in the pocket of the  bag .....?

She opened her backpack eagerly. And was shocked.

There was no Egg in the bag !

Where could it go ? How did it disappear ?

Tears filled her eyes.

“ Amma ! Did you clean out my bag ? ”  she demanded, as soon as her parents came into her room.

“ What bag ? ...... have you not brushed your teeth yet ? ” 

“ Whats the matter, dear ? Why are you crying  ? ” Asked Appa

“ It  has disappeared from my bag  ! ”  Wailed Addu.

“ Brush your teeth and have  breakfast first ...your stories later ! ” 

“No !  I want It now  ! ” 

“ Stop acting like a baby, Addu, remember you  are going to be seven next month ! .....Enough of your tantrums ! ” Mother pulled her to the bathroom and got her teeth brushed.

Addu started wailing loudly.

“ Calm down, dear. ”  said Father kindly, “ what is that “IT”surprise, tell me ? ”

“ The Egg  that Mother Bronto gave me when Vriddhi  and I visited  Dinoland last night! ”  Sobbed Addu.

“ You visited Dinosaur  land ? !” 

“ Yes I did ! With Vriddhi ! ”  angry and sobbing, Addu narrated everything about her adventure in Dinoland -  their flight in space, finding the Bronto Babies, escaping T.Rex, getting a gift of The Egg from  Mother Bronto .....

“ Ah , now I understand ! ”  Said Father and he fetched his laptop.

“ Come here, my dear ....look at this ! ”  he pointed to the laptop screen showing a page full of  pictures  of dinosaur species. “ Is this the one you  saw ? ” He pointed to one.

“ Yes yes, I saw the Brontosaurs ....” replied Addu impatiently, as she swallowed the dosa pieces her mother fed her. “ Now let us search for the Egg. ” 

After she had eaten breakfast and drunk a glass of milk , Addu  was calmer.

“ Before we search, I want to ask you a few things. ” 

“ Yes, Appa ”

“ When we go from our home here in Sydney to visit Grandma in Bangalore,  how long does it take ? ” 

“ Too long ! I always get bored sitting in the plane. ” 

“ Yes. It takes 13 hours and 15 minutes to reach there. And do you know the time difference between here and there ? ” 

“ I don't know. ” 

“ About four and a half hours....For us its morning now. For grandma its still night! ”

“ Really ? ” 

“ Grandma is less than five hours away, yet we take so long to reach there. Dinosaurs are millions of years away, can we reach there in one night and return? ”

Addu looked confused. She thought hard.

Finally , she was very disappointed. “ So it was all just a dream ?! ”

“ Yes. A lovely dream ! ”

Mother smiled as she  took her hand and led her to the cupboard. “ Forget the dream , dear. ... Look , your show bag from the Easter Show is still unopened. Shall we look in to see what we got ? ”

Addu opened the shiny bag and started taking out the toys, one by one.

Dinosaur Cap. 
Dinosaur digital watch. 
Shape changing rubber dinosaur. 
A wicked looking red plastic T.Rex. 
A packet of  tiny assorted dinos of all colours. 

When the last item was taken out, Addu jumped up in excitement  !

It was a Fossil Hunter  kit containing a plaster dinosaur egg and a small plastic chisel-and-hammer set.

Spreading a sheet of paper on the floor, Addu started hammering on the plaster egg, chipping it away piece by piece.

Hidden inside it was a cute little blue baby dinosaur toy !

Addu  squealed and  clapped  her hands  in delight  !

“A Brontosaur Baby !”

 ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು !

" ಅದ್ದು! ಇದು ಸಸ್ಯಾಹಾರಿ! ನಮ್ಮನ್ನ  ಏನೂ ಮಾಡೋದಿಲ್ಲ!" ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದಳು.

" ಮರಿಗಳಿಗೆ  ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಏಡ್ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ಸತ್ತೆ! ಹತ್ರ ಬಂದು ಏನ್ಮಾಡತ್ತೋ ಏನೋ ? " ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

ಎದುರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು ನಿಂತ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್ ಪಿಳಿ  ಪಿಳಿ ಕಣ್ಣು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿತು. ನಂತರ ಮರಿಗಳಂತೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಚಾಚಿತು.

" ಅದ್ದು! ಅದನ್ನೂ ಮುದ್ದಿಸಬೇಕಂತೆ ನೋಡು! " ಎಂದ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕಿಲಕಿಲ ನಕ್ಕಳು.

ಅದ್ದುವಿಗೆ ತಾಯಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋವಿನ ಆಕಾರ ಕಂಡು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೆದರಿಕೆ ಆಯಿತು. ಆದರೂ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ ತನ್ನ ಬೆರಳುಗಳಿಂದ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಅದರ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಸವರಿದಳು. ಕೆಲವು ನಿಮಿಷಗಳಾದರೂ ಅದು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಕದಲುವ ಸೂಚನೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ!

ಮರಿಗಳು ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಂದು ನಿಂತು ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅವಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ದೂಡಿದವು. ಆಯ ತಪ್ಪಿದ ಅದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ತಾಯಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋವಿನ  ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಅವಳ ಮೈ 'ಝುಮ್' ಎಂದಿತು.  ತಾಯಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಸರಕ್ಕನೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ  ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡಿತು! ಅದರ ನೀಳವಾದ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಅದ್ದು ಸರ ಸರನೆ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಜಾರುತ್ತ ಬಂದು ಕಡೆಗೆ ಅದರ ಬೆನ್ನಮೇಲೆ 'ದೊಪ್' ಎಂದು ಕುಳಿತುಬಿಟ್ಟಳು!

" ಹೇ! ಅದ್ದು! ಅಂತೂ ಇಂತೂ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಸವಾರಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟೇಬಿಟ್ಟೆ ನೋಡು!" ಎಂದು ನಕ್ಕಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

ಅದ್ದು ದಿಗ್ಬ್ರಾಂತಳಾದಳು !

ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ತನ್ನ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಚಾಚಿತು. ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಈಗ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದಿತ್ತು. ಅದರ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಬಳಸಿ ಹಿಡಿದಳು. ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ತಲೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೊರಳು ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡಿತು. ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಸರ ಸರನೆ ಜಾರುತ್ತ ಬಂದು ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಮುಂದೆ  ಕುಳಿತಳು !

" ಅಯ್ಯಯ್ಯೋ! ಇದು ನಡೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿಬಿಡ್ತಲ್ಲಾ! "  ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಸವಾರಿಯಿಂದ ಅದ್ದುವಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಧ ಖುಷಿ ! ಅರ್ಧ ಗಾಬರಿ !

" ಮರಿ! ನಿಮ್ಮಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆ? "

ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಕುಯುಮ್ ಕುಯುಮ್ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಮೂರು  ಮರಿಗಳೂ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದವು.

ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಗುಡುಗಿನಂತೆ ಸಪ್ಪಳ ಮಾಡುತ್ತ ಕಾಡಿನೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಕೆರೆಯಬಳಿ ಸಾಗಿತು.

ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಿಮಾನದಂತೆ ಹಾರಿಬಂದ  ಪ್ರಾಣಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಚೀರಿದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

" ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ನೋಡು ಹಾರೋ ಡೈನೋಸರ್!"

ಕೆರೆಯ ನೀರಿನ ಹರಹಿನ ಮೇಲೆರಗಿ  ಥಟ್ಟನೆ ಮೀನನ್ನು ಕಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಾರಿ ಹೋಯಿತು ಆ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ .

" ಅದು ಪ್ಟೆರೋಸಾರ್ (pterosaur) ಅದ್ದು! ಅದರ ರೆಕ್ಕೆ ಪುಕ್ಕವೆಲ್ಲ ನೋಡಿದ್ಯಾ? ಬರಿ ಚರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ನಾಯುಗಳಿಂದ್ಲೇ ಆಗಿವೆ! "ಎಂದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಸವಾರಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಅದ್ದು ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತ ನೋಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ,  ಆಗಿಂದಾಗ್ಯೆ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯ ಭಯ ತಲೆದೋರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

ಕಡೆಗೆ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಒಂದು ಮರಳುಗಾಡಿನಂತಹ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿತು. ಅದ್ದು ಬೆರಗಾದಳು! ಆ ಮರಳು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದರೂ ತಾಯಿ, ತಂದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮರಿ  ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರ್ಗಳೇ! ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದ ಮರಳುಗುಳಿಗಳು! ಒಂದೊಂದು ಗುಳಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಐದಾರು ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳು!

ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋವನ್ನು ಕಂಡೊಡನೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಗಳೂ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ಸುತ್ತುವರೆದುಕೊಂಡವು. ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿ ಅದ್ದುವನ್ನೂ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನೂ ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದವು. ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ತನ್ನ ನೀಳವಾದ ಕೊರಳಿನಿಂದ  ಅವನ್ನು ನೂಕಿ ದೂರ ತಳ್ಳಿತು. ತನ್ನದ್ದೇ ಆದ ಗುಳಿಯಬಳಿ ಹೋಗಿ ನಿಂತಿತು. ತಲೆ ಬಾಗಿ ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೆಳಕ್ಕಿಳಿಸಿತು.

" ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ಎಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳು! " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತ ಅದ್ದು ಕುತೂಹಲದಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಒಂದು ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿ ನೋಡಿದಳು.

ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನೋಡುತ್ತ ನಿಂತಿತು.

ಅದ್ದು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಧೈರ್ಯ  ತಂದುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಆ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಗೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ ಮುರಿಗಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದಳು. ನಂತರ ಮರಳ ಗೂಡಿನಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಪಸು ಇಡಲು ಹೋದಳು. ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ತಿವಿಯಿತು.

" ಅದ್ದು! ಆ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡ್ತಿದೆ ಅನ್ಸತ್ತೆ! " ಎಂದಳು  ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

" ನನಗಾ? ಈ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆ ನನಗೇನಾ? " ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಎದೆಗವಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ತನ್ನ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಬಳಿ ಚಾಚಿತು. ಅದ್ದು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ಸವರಿದಳು. ಮರಿಗಳೂ ಕುಯ್ ಕುಯ್ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ನೀವಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವು.

" ಅದ್ದು! ನಿನಗೆ ತೃಪಿಯಾಯಿತಾ? ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಸುತ್ತಾಡ್ಬೇಕಾ ? " ಎಂದು ನಗುತ್ತ ಕೇಳಿದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

" ಸಾಕಪ್ಪ! ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಬರೋದ್ರೊಳಗೆ ಹೊರಡೋಣ! " ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋವನ್ನೂ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಸಿದಳು ಅದ್ದು. ಅಮ್ಮ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ  ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಚೀಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಇರಿಸಿದಳು.

ವೃದ್ಧಿ ತನ್ನ ಬೆನ್ನ ಚೀಲದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಹೊರ ತೆಗೆದಳು. ಅವಳ ಸುತ್ತ ಪ್ರಭಾವಲಯ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಇಬ್ಬರು ಗೆಳೆತಿಯರೂ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾದರು. ಮರು ಕ್ಷಣ ಬಿರ್ರೆಂದು ಬಂದ  ಸುಂಟರಗಾಳಿ ಇಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ  ದೋಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿತು.

ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಗಳೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬೀಳ್ಗೊಡುವಂತೆ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಊಳಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಶಂಖ ನಾದದಂತೆ ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು!

ADDU IN DINOSAUR LAND!

CHAPTER 6

“Addu! Don’t be afraid” Said Vriddhi, holding her hand “These are Herbivores and eat only plant food.”

“ I know that ….but , I feel the Mother may be upset because I stuck Band Aids on her babies! Who knows what it will do ? ”

The Mother Bronto came closer. But did not seem angry. It lowered its neck and  offered its chin to be tickled, just like the babies!

“See it only wants to be petted !”

Though the huge size of the Mother Bronto scared Addu a little, she put out her hand and ran it lovingly along its neck. The Bronto stood enjoying it. And did not move away even after many minutes ….

The Babies who were  skipping behind Addu, now nudged her towards their mother. Addu tumbled forward. And to gain balance, she threw her hands around Mother Bronto’s neck.

Immediately, the mother raised its neck straight up. This made Addu slide down the neck and she landed “Plop” on its back!

“Great , Addu !” Clapped Vriddhi, “So you finally managed to become a Dino Rider !!!”

Addu was wonderstruck.

Now, Mother Bronto lowered its neck again, towards Vriddhi.

She knew perfectly well what it wanted! She got  hold of its neck and as soon as it lifted its head straight up, slid down to land in front of Addu !

“ It’s  walking!” Cried Addu, partly in excitement, partly in fear.

“ I  wonder where it is taking us! ” added Vriddhi.

As the Bronto walked slowly into the forest with heavy steps, the babies skipped along behind it.

Just as the girls were beginning to enjoy the ride, a very large animal flew over  them like a black aeroplane.

“ That’s a Pterosaur, Addu. The flying Dino!”   said Vriddhi.  “ Did you see its Wings? Only  skin and muscles.  No feathers.”

After a long walk, the Bronto reached a desert like place. And it was full of Bronto families …...Mother Brontos,  Father Brontos, Baby Brontos…..There  were many small sand pits. In every pit were  five or six  Dino eggs!

When Mother Bronto arrived with the girls, all the Brontos  looked up at them curiously.

Mother Bronto lowered its head  for the girls to get down.

“ Vriddhi look! A million Dino Eggs!!! ”

 Addu ran to the nearest pit  in excitement and  touched an egg in wonder.

Mother Dino just stood watching her.

Encouraged, Addu carefully lifted up the egg and held it in both hands like a treasure.

After admiring it, she lowered it, wanting to put it back in the pit.

But Mother Bronto pushed the egg  with its snout, back into her hands!

“ Oh ! Bronto wants you to keep it, Addu ! ” Declared Vriddhi.

“ What ? I can keep it ??? For ME ??? ” 

Mother Bronto gently lowered its head and rubbed against her. Addu happily placed the egg gifted by Bronto  in a safe place in her bag.

“ Addu,  Do you want to explore more of the forest? ”  Asked Vriddhi.

“ No! No!  It is enough. Let us go away from here, before another T.Rex appears! ”

Vriddhi took out her Magic Wand. A golden Halo surrounded her. Both girls held on to the Wand.

The next moment, a whirlwind appeared and swept them up.

As they flew away, all the Brontosaurs on the desert patch lifted  their heads and  let out  a loud trumpeting, that seemed to say “Goodbye”.

 ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು !

  ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ  5




ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತು ಕಳೆದಮೇಲೆ ನಿದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಛೆತ್ತುಕೊಂಡವು.

" ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನಿದ್ದೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರಾ? " ಎಂದು ಅದ್ದು ಅವನ್ನು ಸವರಿ ಮುದ್ದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದಳು.

" ಸವರು! " ಎಂದು ಬೇಡುವಂತೆ ಮರಿಗಳು ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅವಳ ಬಳಿ ಚಾಚಿದವು.
" ಮಳೆ ಬರತ್ತೋ ಏನೋ! ಗುಡುಗು ಶಬ್ದ ಕೇಳಿಸ್ತಿದೆ! ಆಲ್ವಾ ವೃದ್ಧಿ? "

ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸದೆ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಗಮನವಿಟ್ಟು ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸಿದಳು.

" ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಮತ್ತೆ ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಬಂತೆ? ಹೇಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ! " ಅದ್ದು ಗಾಬರಿಗೊಂಡಳು.

ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳು ಯಾಕೋ ಅತ್ತಿಂದಿತ್ತ ಇತ್ತಿಂದತ್ತ ಕೊರಳು ಚಾಚಿ ಚಡಪಡಿಸಿದವು. ಗುಹೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಆತುರಗೊಂಡವು.

" ತಡಿರೀ! ತಡಿರೀ! ಹೊರಗೆ ಏನು ಅಪಾಯ ಕಾದಿದ್ಯೋ! " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಅದ್ದು ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನಗೊಳಿಸಿದಳು. ಆದರೂ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ  ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನ ತಡೆಯುವುದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.  ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಗುಹೆಯಿಂದ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಹೊರಗೆ ಇಣುಕಿದಳು. ಗುಡುಗು ಶಬ್ದ ಹತ್ತಿರವೇ ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು.

" ಬೇಡ ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ಹೊರಗೆ  ತಲೆ ಹಾಕ್ಬೇಡ! "

"ಉಶ್!" ಅದ್ದುವನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಿದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ. ನಂತರ ಗುಹೆಯಿಂದಾಚೆ ಬೆರಳು ಮಾಡಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದಳು.

ಅದ್ದು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಹಿಂದೆ  ಹೋಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಹೊರಗೆ ಇಣುಕಿದಳು. ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಅವಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದವು.

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಅತ್ತಿತ್ತ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತ ನಿಂತಿತ್ತು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಬೃಗದಾಕಾರವಾದ  ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್ !  

ಅದ್ದುವನ್ನೂ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನೂ ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ನೂಕಿಕೊಂಡು  ಮರಿಗಳು ಗುಹೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿದವು. 'ಕುಯುಮ್ ಕುಯುಮ್' ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಬ್ರ್ಯಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್ ಬಳಿ ಓಡಿದವು. ಅದರ ದಪ್ಪ ಕಾಲುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತಮ್ಮ ನವಿರಾದ ಎಳೆ ಕೊರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಉಜ್ಜಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿಂತವು.

" ಕೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ  ಕೂತಿದ್ದ  ಅದೇ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್! " ಎಂದಳು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಗೊಂಡ ಅದ್ದು.

" ಹುಮ್! ಮರಿಗಳ ತಾಯಿ! "

" ಅವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ ನೋಡು! " 

ಸದ್ದಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಗುಹೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದ ಹುಡುಗಿಯರು, ತಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮರಿಗಳ ಸಂಭ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತ ನಿಂತರು. 

ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ಮರಿಯ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ನೀಳವಾದ ಕೊರಳಿನಿಂದ  ಬಳಸಿ ಮುದ್ದಿಸಿತು ತಾಯಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್.

" ಡೈನೋಸರ್ಗಳಿಗೆ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದ್ಯಲ್ಲ ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ಈಗ ನೋಡು! " ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಮುದ್ದಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮ, ಅವುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಟಿಸಿದ್ದ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಏಡನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಅವನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತು ಹಾಕಿತು. ಮರಿಗಳು ಅಮ್ಮನ ಮುಂದೆ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕುಯಿಗುಟ್ಟಿ ಓಡಾಡಿದವು. ನಂತರ ಅದ್ದುವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಓಡಿ ಬಂದವು. ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಕೊರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಚಾಚಿದವು. ಅದ್ದು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆದರದಿಂದ ಸವರಿದಳು.

ತಾಯಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸಾರಸ್  ತನ್ನ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ತಲೆಯೆತ್ತಿ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ದೀರ್ಘವಾಗಿ ಊಳಿಟ್ಟಿತು. ನಂತರ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯ ಸಪ್ಪಳಮಾಡುತ್ತ  ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದು ಬರತೊಡಗಿತು.

ಅದ್ದು ಮೆಲ್ಲಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಹಿಂಜರಿದಳು.

ADDU IN DINOSAUR LAND 
Chapter  5

Addu was  playing with the Bronto Babies who had just woken up from their nap, when she heard a faint rumble.

“ Do you think it is  going to rain, Vriddhi?”  She asked, looking up.

Vriddhi did not reply. She was listening attentively to the far off sound and scanning the direction from where it came.

“ Oh no ! ” Cried Addu , “ Do you think it is the sound of  T.Rex returning? ”

The Bronto Babies too perked up and became restless.

“ Its Ok…its Ok…Don’t panic ! ” Addu pacified them, but was herself worried.

The thundering sound came closer. She slid up behind Vriddhi and peered in that direction.

What a surprise !!!

Just a little way away from them stood a massive Brontosaurus, swaying its long neck from side to side, its eyes searching for something.

Seeing it,  the Babies got very excited and ran, pushing  the girls aside.

They hopped and skipped happily towards the huge Bronto.

“ Oh, isn’t this the same Bronto that was feeding in the muddy lake? ”

“  Yes, it’s the Babies’ mother!” remarked  Vriddhi.

The babies by now were frolicking around their Mother’s legs. The Mother Bronto nuzzled each one of them by turns, with its long neck.

“ You said Dinosaurs have no brain or thinking power. Look now! ” said Addu. “ It is as loving as any animal mother! ”

The Mother Bronto  fussed  over the babies and pulled  out all the Band Aids stuck on their bodies.

After enjoying  the Mother’s pampering for a while, they came running to Addu. One by one they offered their necks for her to tickle.

Mother Bronto lifted her head and gave a deep call.

Then , with heavy steps , came closer to the girls.

Addu stepped back warily.

ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು ! - 4 / Addu in Dinosaur Land - 4

 ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು!                                                  ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ  4

ಭಾರಿಯಾದ ಮೈಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ದಪ್ಪವಾದ ಉದ್ದನೆಯ ಬಾಲವನ್ನೂ ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ದಾಪುಗಾಲು ಹಾಕಿ ಓಡಿಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್! ಕೈಗಳಂತೆ ತೋರಿದ ಅದರ ಮುಂಬಾಗದ ಕಾಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಮೂರು ದಪ್ಪ ಬೆರಳುಗಳು! ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಕ್ಕೆಯಂತಿದ್ದ ಚೂಪಾದ ಉಗುರುಗಳು! ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಾಚಿ ಎತ್ತಿ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅವಸರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅದು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಧಾವಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು!

" ಅದ್ದು! ಬೇಗ! ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಓಡು! " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ತನ್ನ ಚೀಲದಿಂದ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದಳು.

" ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ? ಹೇಗೆ? " ಅದ್ದು ದಿಕ್ಕು ತೋಚದೆ ಗಾಬರಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿದಳು.

" ಭಯ ಬೇಡ ಅದ್ದು! ಆ ಕಡೆ ನೋಡು ಬಂಡೆಗಳು ! ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದಾದ್ರೂ ಗುಹೆ ಕಂಡ್ರೆ  ಒಳಕ್ಕೆ  ಹೋಗ್ಬಿಡು! ಬೇಗ! ನಾನು ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸನ್ನ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ತಡೆದು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಕ್ಕೆ ನೋಡ್ತೀನಿ!" ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಭಾವಲಯ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿತು.

ಅದ್ದು ತುರ್ತಾಗಿ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮುದ್ದು ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ಪುಸಲಾಯಿಸಿ, ಅವಕ್ಕೆ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ಓಲೈಸುತ್ತ ಓಡಿದಳು. ಹುಲ್ಲಿನಾಸೆಯಿಂದ ಮರಿಗಳೂ ಕುಯಿಗುಡುತ್ತ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದವು.

ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದಲೋ ಬಂದ ಬಲವಾದ ಸುಂಟರಗಾಳಿ ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೂ ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸಿಗೂ  ನಡುವೆ ಗೋಡೆಯಂತೆ ಸುತ್ತತೊಡಗಿತು. ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಎರಡು ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಅಡ್ಡವಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದ  ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಬಲವಾಗಿ ನೂಕಿ ಹಿಡಿದಳು. ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಡಲಾರದೆ ತತ್ತರಿಸಿತು. ಕೋಪದಿಂದ ಫೀಳಿಟ್ಟಿತು.

ಅದ್ದು ಮರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಓಡಿ ಓಡಿ ಬಂಡೆಗಳ ಸಂದಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಗುಹೆಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿದಳು. 

ಬೆನ್ನುಹತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಕೈಯಿನಿಂದ ಅಡ್ಡವಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡ ವೃದ್ಧಿ, ಹಿಂದೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತ ಅದ್ದುವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ ಓಡಿದಳು. ಒಂದೇ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲಿನ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಕುಂದ ತೊಡಗಿತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಬಹಳ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಮುನುಗ್ಗಿ, ಅಬ್ಬರಿಸುತ್ತ, ಇಮ್ಮಡಿ ವೇಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸ ತೊಡಗಿತು. 

" ಬೇಗ! ಅದ್ದು! ನನ್ನ ಕೋಲನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ತೋರಿಸ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅದನ್ನ ತಡೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗ್ತಾ ಇಲ್ಲ!" ಚೀರಿದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ. 

" ಇಗೋ ಆಯಿತು! " ಗವಿಯೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದ ಅದ್ದು, ಒಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಮರಿಗಳ ಕೊರಳು ಹಿಡಿದು ಎಳೆದಳು. ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲಿಲ್ಲದ ತನ್ನ ಮೊತ್ತೊಂದು ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ದೂಡಿದಳು.

ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ತನ್ನ ಭಯಾನಕ ಬಾಯನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿ ತೆರೆದು ಕಚ್ಚುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ರಭಸದಿಂದ ಮುನ್ನುಗ್ಗಿತು. ಅದೇ ಸಮಯ ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಗುಹೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡುಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ನಿರಾಸೆಯಿಂದ ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ 'ರಪ್ಪನೆ'  ತನ್ನ ಬಾಯನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿತು.

ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಬ್ಬಿಕೊಂಡು ಗವಿಯ ಗೋಡೆಗೆ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿಂತರು.

ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ತನ್ನ ಮೂತಿಯನ್ನು ಒಳಗೆ ತೂರಿಸಲೆತ್ನಿಸಿತು. ಗವಿಯ ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಾದ ದ್ವಾರದೊಳಗೆ ಅದರ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಭಯಾನಕ ಬಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ತೂರಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಫೀಳಿಟ್ಟಿತು. ನಂತರ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋತು ಹಿಮ್ಮೆಟ್ಟಿತು. ಭೂಮಿ ಕಂಪಿಸುವಂತಹ ಅದರ ಕಾಲ ಸಪ್ಪಳ ದೂರ ದೂರ ಸರಿದು ಹೋಗಿ ಕಡೆಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಿಂತೇ ಹೋಯಿತು.

" ಅಬ್ಬಾ! ಬದುಕಿದ್ವಿ! " ಎಂದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

" ನೀನೇನಾದ್ರೂ ಅದನ್ನ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲು ಹಿಡಿದು  ತಡೀದೇ ಹೋಗಿದ್ರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಗತಿ ಏನಾಗ್ತಿತ್ತೋ!" ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

ಮರಿಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ಭಯದಿಂದ 'ಕುಯ್ಯುಮ್ ಕುಯ್ಯುಮ್' ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. 
" ಭಯ ಬೇಡ ಮರಿ! ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಓಡಿ ಹೋಯಿತು! "  ಎನ್ನುತ್ತ ಅವನ್ನು ತಬ್ಬಿಕೊಂಡ ಅದ್ದು ಅವುಗಳ ಮೈಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಗಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡಳು. 

" ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಮರಿಗಳ ಮೈಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ತರಚಿದಂತಿದೆ! "

 ಅದ್ದು ಕನಿಕರದಿಂದ ಮರಿಗಳ ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ಗಾಯವನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದಳು.

 " ಬಂಡೆ  ಸಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಳೆಯೋವಾಗ ಗಾಯ ಆಗಿರ್ಬೇಕು! " ಎಂದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

"ಅಯ್ಯೋ ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ನೋಡು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲೂ ಗಾಯ!" ಎಂದ ಅದ್ದು, ಹೆಗಲಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಬ್ಯಾಗನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದಳು. ಒಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಟಿಶ್ಯೂ ಪೇಪರ್ ತೆಗೆದು ಮೊದಲು ಮರಿಗಳ ಗಾಯವನ್ನು ಒರೆಸಿದಳು. ನಂತರ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಗಾಯವನ್ನೂ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.

'' ಇದೆಲ್ಲ ನನಗೆ ಬೇಡ ಅದ್ದು! "

"ಸುಮ್ನಿರು! ಗಾಯಗಳನ್ನ ಕೂಡ್ಲೇ ಕ್ಲೀನ್ ಮಾಡದೇ ಹೋದ್ರೆ ಸೆಪ್ಟಿಕ್ ಆಗತ್ತೆ!" ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರತಳಾದಳು ಅದ್ದು. ಮರಿಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಗಾಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಲ್ಲ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಬ್ಯಾನ್ಡ್ ಏಡ್ ಅಂಟಿಸಿದಳು.

ನಂತರ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿದ ಟಿಶ್ಯೂ ಪೇಪರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಏಡ್ ಕಾಗದಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಆರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಚೀಲದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಕವರಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಳು.

" ಇದೆಲ್ಲ ಯಾಕೆ ಬ್ಯಾಗಿಗೆ ಹಾಕ್ಕೊತ್ತಿಯ ಅದ್ದು? ''

" ಮತ್ತೆ? ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಬಿಸಾಕಿ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೊಳಕು ಮಾಡಕ್ಕಾಗತ್ತಾ? '' ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಶಿಸ್ತು ಬಹಳ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಆಯಿತು.

ಮರಿಗಳು ಆಯಾಸದಿಂದ ತಲೆ ಬಾಗಿ ಮಲಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟವು.

" ಮಲಗಲಿ! ಪಾಪ !ಓಡಿ ಓಡಿ ಆಯಾಸವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು! "ಎಂದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

" ಹೌದು ಅದ್ದು! ಇವು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಚೇತರಿಸ್ಕೊಂಡ  ಮೇಲೆ  ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ! "

" ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕ್ತಿದೆಯೋ ಏನೋ? ಮತ್ತೇ ಅದರ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ ಬೀಳ ಬಾರದು! " ಇದು ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಭಯ!

" ಹಾಗೆಲ್ಲ ಯೋಚ್ನೆ ಮಾಡೋಂತ  ಭುದ್ದಿ ಡೈನೋಸರಸ್ಗಳಿಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅದ್ದು! ತಿನ್ನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕರೆ ಸಾಕು! ಅಷ್ಟೇ! " ಎಂದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

 ಅದ್ದು ಮಾತ್ರ  ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬರಬಹುದೋ ಏನೋ ಎಂದು ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಆಲಿಸುತ್ತ ಕುಳಿತಳು.

Chapter 4

The T.Rex was coming at them, leaping on its powerful legs, dragging its gigantic body and thick long tail. The short forelegs, which looked like its hands, had three fat fingers each, ending in sharp claw- like nails. It was coming for the Bronto Babies! With one  swipe,  it could  snatch and stuff them into its fearsome mouth!

“ Addu ! Quick ! Take the Babies and run! ” Cried Vriddhi as she pulled her Magic Wand out of her bag.

Addu was bewildered. “ Oh My God! How??? Where ???? ” She gasped.

“ Don’t panic! …Look over there. The rocks! Run! You will surely find some cave there ….Go hide inside a cave  with the babies. I will stop this T.Rex, as long as I can .”

Addu patted the babies to calm them and tempting them with clumps of grass, she quickly herded them towards the rocks.

Vriddhi waved the Wand and a sudden tornado rose up like a wall between her and T.Rex . She held the Wand across and pushed the tornado towards the terrifying dino.

The T.Rex was pushed back and it roared in rage, unable to move.

Addu reached the rocks and finding a small cave, hurried the babies towards the opening.

Vriddhi now started running towards the cave too, all the while pointing the Wand back, towards T.Rex. But, as she was holding it by only one hand, the Power of the Wand started weakening. As it weakened, T.Rex found the strength to move and it leapt behind her.

“ Quick Addu! ” Screamed Vriddhi “ I am unable to point my wand backwards and  hold this beast off for long  …..”

“ Almost done ! ” Shouted Addu, getting into the small cave and pulling the babies in. Vriddhi arrived and pushed them from behind.

Snarling and leaping, T.Rex reached the cave too. It snapped at the entrance and tried to wriggle its huge snout into the cave. Vriddhi and Addu flattened themselves to the wall of the cave, holding back the babies.

As the mouth of the cave was too small, T.Rex could not get its snout in. It tried thrashing and pounding on the rocks, roaring in fury. But it failed in all its efforts to get at the baby brontos. Defeated at last,  it stomped away, shaking the ground like an earthquake with its heavy steps.

As the sound of its footsteps  faded away, the girls came out with relief.

“ Thank goodness! ” sighed Vriddhi

“ What if you hadn’t had  your magic wand! ” panted Addu  “ Oh dear! That was scary! ”

The Bronto Babies  came out one by one, still squealing in fright.

“ Its Ok , Babies ! Rex is gone ! Don’t be scared! ”

As Addu hugged them, she noticed scratches on their bodies.

“They must have got scratched while rushing through the rocks….poor babies!...here, let me help you…”

She pulled out a bottle of lotion and cotton balls  from her backpack and cleaned the scratches. And finished  off the First Aid by sticking Band Aid on all the scratches.

“ Vriddhi, you have scratches too, let me clean them. ”

“  No ! I don’t need all that !”

“ Of course you do! If you don’t clean the wounds, they will become septic. ”

After attending to everyone, Addu collected all the used cotton and plastic wrappers and put them in a brown paper bag. Then she stuffed this paper bag in the front pouch of her backpack.

“ Why are you carrying them Addu ? ”

“ We must! We should not spoil the environment by throwing garbage wherever we go! ”

Vriddhi liked Addu’s discipline very much.

The Bronto Babies were by now napping under a shade.

“ Let them rest. We will take them back when they wake up. ”

“But Vriddhi! What if T.Rex is just hiding somewhere and planning to pounce on them when unexpected? ”

“ Worry not! Dinos do not have the brains to think and plan so much…….they only hunt for easy food. ”

But Addu, still worried, kept an eye and ear open to sense any danger from T.Rex again.

ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು ! 

ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ  3

ಹಚ್ಛೆಹಸಿರಾದ ಆ ಕಾಡಿನ ನಡುವೆ ಬಂದು ಇಳಿದರು ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿ. ಬೆಳಗಿನಜಾವದಂತೆ ತೋರಿದ ನಸು ಬೆಳಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ  ಸುತ್ತ ಮುತ್ತ ನೋಡಿದ ಅದ್ದು ಬೆರಗಾದಳು.

ಎತ್ತೆತ್ತರವಾದ  ಪೈನ್ ಎಂಬ ದೇವದಾರು ಮರಗಳು, ಕೋನಿಫರ್ಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಶಂಕು ವೃಕ್ಷಗಳು, ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಮ್ ಎಂಬ ತಾಳೆ ಮರಗಳು! ಫರ್ನ್ ಎಂಬ ಜರೀ ಸಸ್ಯಗಳು, ಹಾರ್ಸ್ ಟೇಲ್ ಎಂಬ ಅಶ್ವಪುಚ್ಛ ಗಿಡಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಇನ್ನೂ ಎಂತೆಂಥದ್ದೋ ಕುರುಚಲು ಗಿಡಗಳು!

" ಅಬ್ಬ! ಎಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಮರಗಳು! ತಲೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಿದ್ರೆ ಕತ್ತು ನೋಯುತ್ತೆ! "

'' ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ದೊಡ್ಡದ್ದೇ! " ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನಚೀಲದೊಳಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸುತ್ತ ನುಡಿದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

" ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಸುಮಾರು ಎಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡದಿರಬಹುದು? "

" ಈ ಎತ್ತೆತ್ತರವಾದ ಮರಗಳ ಮೇಲಿನ ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಂತಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತು ಮೇಯುವಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರ ! ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಭಾರಿ! "

" ಹಾ? " ಅದ್ದು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಬಾಯಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಳು.

ಕಾಲುಚೆಂಡಿನ ಗಾತ್ರದ ಯಾವುದೋ ಒಂದು ಹುಳು ಅವಳ ಮುಖದತ್ತ  ಸುಳಿದು  ಗುಯಿಗುಟ್ಟಿ  ಹಾರಿಹೊಯಿತು.

" ಅಯ್ಯೋ ! ಏನಿದು? " ಅದ್ದು ಗಾಬರಿಯಿಂದ ಮುಖದಮುಂದೆ ಕೈ ಬೀಸಿದಳು.

" ಯಾರಾದ್ರೂ ಜೀರುಂಡೆಗೆ ಹೆದರ್ತಾರೆಯೇ? " ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ನಕ್ಕಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

" ಅಬ್ಬಾ! ಇಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜೀರುಂಡೆ ನಾನು ನೋಡೇ ಇಲ್ಲ! "

" ಅದೇ ಹೇಳಿದ್ನಲ್ಲ! ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಭಾರಿ!"

 ಅದ್ದುವಿಗೆ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ನೋಡುವ ಆಸೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈಗ  ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಭಯವೂ ಆಯಿತು.

" ನಡಿ  ಅದ್ದು! ಎಲ್ಲಾದ್ರೂ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಕಾಣ್ಸತ್ತಾ ನೋಡೋಣ! "

ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಕುರುಚಲು ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನೂ ಎತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದ ಹುಲ್ಲು ರಾಶಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸರಿಸಿ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ನಡೆದರು.  ದೂರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕೆರೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿತು. ದಂಡೆಯಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದದ್ದು ಕಂಡಿತು.

 " ಕಾಂಗರೂ ! " ಅದ್ದು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಉಸುರಿದಳು. 

" ಅವು ಕಾಂಗರೂ ಅಲ್ಲ ಅದ್ದು! ಡೈನೋಸರ್ಗಳು! " ಎಂದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

" ಹೌದಾ? ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲ? "

"ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗಿ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ನೋಡು! ಅವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಸಣ್ಣ ಮರಿಗಳು! ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸೋರಸ್   ಮರಿಗಳು! "

ಅದ್ದು ವಿವಿಧ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಿದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಬ್ಯಾಗಿನಿಂದ ದುರ್ಬಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು  ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣ್ಣಿಟ್ಟು ನೋಡಿದಳು.

ಉದ್ದವಾದ ತೆಳು ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ !

ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಣ್ಣದಾದ ತಲೆ !

ಭಾರಿಯಾದ ಒಡಲು !

ಉದ್ದವಾದ ಬಾಲ !

"ಹೌದು ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ಹೌದು! ಅವು ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಮರಿಗಳೇ!" ಅದ್ದುವಿಗೆ ರೋಮಾಂಚನವಾಯಿತು.

" ಇನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ನೋಡು ! ಕೆರೆಯಂಚಲ್ಲಿ ! ಕೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ! "

 ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ದುರ್ಬಿಯ ಸಹಾಯವೇ ಬೇಕಾಗಿಲ್ಲ! 
 ಅದ್ದು ದುರ್ಬಿಯನ್ನು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೊಂದಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನೋಡಿದಳು.

"ಓ! ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣ್ಸತ್ತೆ ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ಕೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತಿದೆ ಒಂದು ! ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಲೆಯನ್ನ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದೆ ! ಪಾಚಿಯನ್ನ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಇದೆ!"

" ಅದು ಮರಿಗಳ ತಾಯಿ! "

ವೃದ್ಧಿ  ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತಿತು ತಾಯಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋಸೋರಸ್ ! ದಡವನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ನಿಂತು ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಿತು. ಅಬ್ಬಬ್ಬಾ! ಎಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರ! ಎಂತಹ ಬೃಹತ್ ಆಕಾರ ! ಅದು ಬಾಲವನ್ನು ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಮುಂದೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಿಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅದರ ದಪ್ಪ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ಗುಡುಗಿನಂತೆ ಸಪ್ಪಳಮಾಡಿದವು. ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಎದೆ ಡವ ಡವ ಹೊಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಸೈನಿಕನಂತೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಮರಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಯಿತು.

" ಅದ್ದು! ಬೇಗ ನಡಿ ! ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನ ಹತ್ರದಿಂದ ನೋಡೋಣ!"

 ತಲೆದೂಗಿದ ಅದ್ದು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಜೊತೆ ಬೇಗಬೇಗನೆ ಮುನ್ನಡೆದಳು. ಎತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದ ಹುಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಹಿಡಿ ಕಿತ್ತಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.  ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಮರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಅದನ್ನು ಬೀಸಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದಳು.

ಮರಿಗಳು 'ಮಿಣಿ ಮಿಣಿ' ನೋಡಿದವು. ಭಯದಿಂದ ಹಿಂಜರಿದವು.

'' ಹೆದರ ಬೇಡಿ! ಬನ್ನಿ ಮರಿಗಳೇ ! " ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮುದ್ದಾದ ದನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆದಳು.

ಅಳುಕುತ್ತಲೇ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದ ಒಂದು ಮರಿ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕಸಿದುಕೊಂಡಿತು. 
" ಜಾಣ ಮರಿ ! ನೀವೂ ಬನ್ನಿ! " ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸಿದಳು. 

 ಈಗ  ಇನ್ನೆರಡು ಮರಿಗಳೂ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬರಲು ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದವು.

" ಅದ್ದು! ನೀನೂ ತಿನ್ನಿಸು ಬಾ!" ಎಂದಳು ವೃದ್ಧಿ .

ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಅದ್ದು ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಹೊರಬಂದು ಹಿಡಿ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತು  ನೀಡಿದಳು.

ಅದ್ದುವಿನಷ್ಟೇ ಎತ್ತರವಿದ್ದವು ಮರಿಗಳು. ಅವುಗಳ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅದ್ದುವಿಗಿಂತ  ಎರಡು ಪಟ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಉದ್ದವಿದ್ದವು. ಅದ್ದು ನೀಡಿದ ಹುಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಚಾಚಿ ಪಕ್ಕನೆ ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ತಿಂದವು. ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ 'ಕುಯ್ಯುಮ್ ಕುಯ್ಯುಮ್' ಎಂದವು. ಅದ್ದು ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಒಂದು ಮರಿಯ ಕೊರಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬೆರಳುಗಳಿಂದ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಸವರಿದಳು. ಮರಿಗೆ ಖುಷಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಇನ್ನೂ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ನಿಂತು ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿತು. ಅದ್ದು ಅದರ ಕೊರಳು  ಕೆರೆದು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಖುಷಿಪಡಿಸಿದಳು.

ಇನ್ನೆರಡು ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳೂ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೊರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿದವು. ಅದ್ದುವಿನ  ಜೊತೆ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯೂ ಸಹ ಅವುಗಳಿನ್ನು ಸವರಿ ಮುದ್ದಿಸಿದಳು.

" ಮುದ್ದು ಮಾಡಿದ್ರೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ತೋರಿಸ್ಕೊಳತ್ವೆ ನೋಡು! ಅವಕ್ಕೆ ಕಚಗುಳಿಯಿಟ್ರೆ  ಮೈ ಝುಮ್ಮನ್ನಲ್ವೇ? " ಅದ್ದು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಮರಿಯ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕೆರೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಕೇಳಿದಳು.

" ಅದರ ಚರ್ಮ ಎಷ್ಟು ದಪ್ಪ ನೋಡು! ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪಕ್ಷಿಯ ನವಿರಾದ ಗರಿಯಿಂದ ಸವರಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸ್ತಿದೆಯೋ ಏನೋ!"

ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಟವಾಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆದರು.

ಇದ್ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಭೂಮಿ ಕಂಪಿಸಿತು! ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನೀರು ಹೊರಚಿಮ್ಮಿತು! ಭಯಾನಕ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಯೊಂದು  ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಫೀಳಿಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ  ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು!

'ಕುಯ್ಯುಮ್ ಕುಯ್ಯುಮ್ಮ್' ಎಂದು ಭಯದಿಂದ ಕುಯ್ಗುಡುತ್ತ ಬ್ರಾಂಟೋ ಮರಿಗಳು ಚಡಪಡಿಸಿದವು. ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಚಕಿತರಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರಲು -

ಬಾಯಿ ತೆರೆದು ತನ್ನ ಚೂಪಾದ ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳ ಸಾಲನ್ನು ತೋರುತ್ತ, ಭೂಮಿ ಅದುರುವಂತೆ ಅವರುಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು  ಓಡಿಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು  ಟಿ ರೆಕ್ಸ್ !

ADDU IN DINOSAUR LAND!

Chapter 3

Addu and Vriddhi landed in a great green jungle. The light of early morning made everything look dazzling.

Addu was wonderstruck by what she saw.

The woods were thick with huge trees like Pines, conifers and palms.  Giant ferns and Horsetail bushes covered the land.

“ Oh my god! Such  huge trees and plants! ”

“ In the land  of giant Dinos, the vegetation has to be gigantic too, to be useful to them! ” remarked Vriddhi.

“ How  tall  are the Dinosaurs? ”

“ Tall enough to graze these tree tops! ”
 Something as big as a football flew close to Addu’s face and she screeched. “ whats that!!!! ”

“ Just a beetle! ….dint I tell you , in Dinoland, everything is gigantic! ”

Though eager to see the Dinosaurs, Addu felt a little scared now.

Both of them walked through the thick tall grasses, carefully parting the vines and bushes.

At a clearing, they could see a lake at a distance.  On the bank of the lake were some strange animals.

“ Kangaroos!? ” clapped Addu happily.

“ No. They are Dinos.”

“What?! but you just told me Dions are giants! These are not even big looking. ”

“ Take a closer look Addu. ” 

Addu pulled out a Binocular from her backpack and peered into it.

Long thin necks !
Small faces at the end ! 
Bulky bodies ! 
Thick long tails !

“ Oh yes! you are right! These are indeed Dinosaurs! Babies! ”

Addu was so excited.

“ Now look in the muddy end of the lake ”.

Addu swung her binoculars to that direction. “ I can see! I can see! I can see a long neck with a small head  coming out of the mud.  Its eating the moss and the algae.”

“That’s the mother of the babies there….Look ! she is coming out !”

Pulling itself out of the muddy water, out stepped the mother Brontosaurus! Goodness gracious! What a tall creature and how bulky!

As she came out and started walking, her steps thundered and shook the land. Addu’s heart beat wildly within her chest.

The Mother Bronto marched slowly into the thick woods and disappeared.

“ Come on , Addu! Lets have a closer look at the babies! ” 

Vriddhi pulled her hand and both walked quickly towards the bank where the babies were.

As they went near, Vriddhi plucked a handful of grass and waved it in the direction of the babies.

The little creatures looked at them with beady eyes and pulled back in fear.

“ Don’t be scared! Come on! Come get this….” Cooed Vriddhi soothingly.

One of the babies stepped up slowly and snatched a bit of grass from her hand. Then, another came forward.

“ Come on! Good Dino! ” She encouraged them. Now they were bold and all came closer.

“Come Addu, you feed them too!”

Eagerly, Addu pulled up a clump of grass and offered it to the little ones.

The babies were now very friendly. They came closer, making squealing noises. They were just as tall as Addu , but with necks twice her height.

Addu put out her hand and tickled one in the neck. The baby was delighted and came closer for more tickling. Soon, all three were around the girls, enjoying their  petting and cooing.

“ They are enjoying tickles!”

“ They have very thick skin. Perhaps it doesn’t tickle them! ”

As they were enjoying playing with the babies, there was a sudden deep rumbling sound and the ground  shook. The water in the lake edges splashed. The terrifying  roar of some  wild beast echoed through the forest.

The babies squealed in fright and ran helter skelter.

Addu and Vriddhi stood rooted to the ground, unable to move, staring in the direction the sound came from.

Leaping towards them, with a wide open mouth showing terrifying rows  of sharp teeth was a  snarling T.Rex !

ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು ! - 2 / Addu in Dinosaur Land - 2

ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದು ! 
ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ  2

 ಅದ್ದು ಗಕ್ಕನೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ತೆರೆದಳು. 

ಥಟ್ಟನೆ ಎದ್ದು ಕುಳಿತು ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಕಡೆ ನೋಡಿದಳು. 
ಮತ್ತೆ 'ಕಟ ಕಟ' ಶಬ್ದವಾಯಿತು. ಅದ್ದು ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಮಂಚದಿಂದ ಇಳಿದು ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಬಳಿ ನಡೆದು ಪರದೆ ಸರಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದಳು. ಕತ್ತಲಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರಳಿನಂತೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಆಕಾರ ಕಂಡಿತು. ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಮುಖದಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ನಗೆಯರಳಿತು.

" ವೃದ್ಧಿ! "

ವೃದ್ಧಿ ತುಟಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆರಳಿಟ್ಟು ' ಶ್ ....ಶ್!' ಎಂದು ಸನ್ನೆ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.

ಅದ್ದು ಸದ್ದಿಲ್ಲದೇ  ಕಿಟಕಿಯನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯಲು ಕಂಬಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಿಟಕಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕೋಣೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಜಿಗಿದಳು.

'' ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ಯಾಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ? " ಅದ್ದು ವೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದು ಮಂಚದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂರಿಸುತ್ತ ಕೇಳಿದಳು.

" ಇಂಡಿಯಾಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆ! "

"ಇಂಡಿಯಾಗಾ?" ಎನ್ನುತ್ತ ಅದ್ದು ಅವಳ ಪಕ್ಕ ಕುಳಿತಳು.

" ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ  ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆ! "

" ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಲ್ಲಿ  ನನ್ನ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಇದ್ದಾರಲ್ಲಾ !"

" ಅವರನ್ನೂ ನೋಡ್ದೆ! ನಿನ್ನ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನ ಎಷ್ಟು ಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸ್ಕೊಂಡ್ರು  ಗೊತ್ತಾ? "

" ಅಜ್ಜಿಯನ್ನ ಮಾತಾಡಿಸಿದ್ಯಾ? ನನ್ನ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹೇಳಿದ್ಯಾ? " ಅದ್ದು ಕುತೂಹಲದಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿದಳು.

" ಅದು ಹೇಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಅದ್ದು? ನಿನಗೇ ಗೊತ್ತು! ನಾನು ನನ್ನಂತಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್! "

" ಓ! ಹೌದು! ನೀನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸ್ಪೆಷಲ್  ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ ಅಲ್ವ? "

ವೃದ್ಧಿ ನಕ್ಕಳು.

" ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ  ಹೋಗಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡ್ದೆ? "

" ನಿನ್ನ ಹಾಗೆ  ಅಲ್ಲೊಂದು ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್! ಅದಿತಿ ಅಂತ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಳೆ ! ಅವಳನ್ನ ತಾರಾ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆ."

" ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಡ್ನಿಯಿಂದ ಅಷ್ಟು ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರೋ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಲ್ಲೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ ಇದ್ದಾಳಾ?!"

" ನನಗೆ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಡೆಯೂ ಫ್ರೆಂಡ್ಸ್ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಅದ್ದು! "
"ಸಿಯಾ, ಮಾಯಾ ಅಂತ ಅಮೇರಿಕಾದಲ್ಲಿ  ನನ್ನ ಮಾವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ ! ಅವರನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತೇ? " 

" ಹೌದು! ಹೋದ ತಿಂಗಳುತಾನೆ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ  ಹಿಮಯುಗಕ್ಕೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆ! "

"ವೃದ್ಧಿ! ನಾನೂ ನೀನೂ ಸುತ್ತಾಡಕ್ಕೆ  ಹೋಗಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ದಿನಗಳಾಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟವು! ಎಲ್ಲಿಗಾದ್ರೂ  ಹೋಗೋಣವೆ? "

" ಓ! ನೀನೇ  ಹೇಳು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ? "

" ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ! " ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಮಿಂಚಿದವು.

" ಓ! ಜುರಾಸಿಕ್ ಯುಗ! ನಿನಗೆ ಭಯವಾಗಲ್ವೆ ಅದ್ದು? "

"ಊಂಹೂಂ! ನನಗೆ ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ತುಂಬಾ ಇಷ್ಟ! ನೋಡು ಇವತ್ತು ಈಸ್ಟರ್ ಷೋದಲ್ಲಿ  ಡೈನೋಸರ್ ಷೋ ಬ್ಯಾಗನ್ನೇ ತಗೊಂಡೆ! " ತನ್ನ ಬ್ಯಾಗನ್ನು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದಳು ಅದ್ದು.

" ಓ! ತುಂಬಾ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ! " ಎಂದ ವೃದ್ಧಿ, " ಸರಿ ಹಾಗಾದ್ರೆ! ಬೇಗ ರೆಡಿಯಾಗು! " ಎಂದಳು.

ಅದ್ದು ಚಟಪಟನೇ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಬದಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಳು. ಕಾಲಿಗೆ ಬೂಟು ತೊಟ್ಟಳು.

" ರೆಡಿನಾ?" ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೊರಡಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾದಳು.

 " ಇರು! ಇರು! ನನ್ನ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಏಯ್ಡ್ ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಟ್  ತಗೋಬೇಕು!"

ಅದ್ದು ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಏಯ್ಡ್ ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಟನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬೆನ್ನಚೀಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತುರುಕಿದಳು. ಹ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ವಾಷ್,  ಕೈ ಒರೆಸುವ ಟಿಶ್ಯೂಸ್, ಒಂದು ಬಾಚಣಿಗೆ, ಟೂತ್ ಪೇಸ್ಟ್, ಸೋಪು ಮೊದಲಾದ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನೇಕ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಿದ್ದ ಆ ಚೀಲವನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಳು.

'' ನಾನು ರೆಡಿ!"

" ಸರಿ! ಬಾ!"

ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಕೈಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಕಿಟಕಿಯಾಚೆ ದುಮುಕಿದರು. ವೃದ್ಧಿ ತನ್ನ ಬೆನ್ನಚೀಲದಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಮಂತ್ರದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಹೊರ ತೆಗೆದಳು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಭಾ ವಲಯ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಕೋಲಿನ ಒಂದು ತುದಿಯನ್ನ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ತುದಿಯನ್ನು ಅದ್ದುವಿನ ಬಳಿ ಚಾಚಿದಳು.

"ಅದ್ದು! ಆ ತುದಿಯನ್ನ ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊ! ಇನ್ನೇನು ಹೊರಡೋಣ!"

ಅದ್ದು ಕೋಲಿನ ತುದಿಯನ್ನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದಲೋ ಬಂದ  ಸುಂಟರಗಾಳಿ  ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ ಬಾಚಿ ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಆಕಾಶ ಮುಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ಹೋಯಿತು.

ಶಾಂತವಾದ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ತೇಲತೊಡಗಿದರು.

ಅದ್ದುವಿಗೆ  ರೋಮಾಂಚನವಾಯಿತು. ತಣ್ಣನೆಯ ಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತೇಲಿ ಹೋಗುವುದು ಬಹಳ ಖುಷಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಅಡವಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳನ್ನೂ ನದಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಾಡುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಮುದ್ರಗಳನ್ನೂ ದಾಟಿ ಹಾರಿ ಹಾರಿ ತೇಲಿ ತೇಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಅದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ವೃದ್ಧಿ.

ADDU IN DINOSAUR LAND!

Chapter 2

Addu woke up with a start.

She sat up and looked towards the window.

There was an urgent tapping again. Addu walked towards the window and parted the curtain.

Behind the glass was a shadowy figure….

Addu broke into a huge smile !

“Vriddhi !”

“Shhh….” Signalled Vriddhi , as she silently slid into the room through the window Addu opened for her.

“Vriddhi ! Why dint you visit me for so long?”

“Sorry,  I was away in India” Said Vriddhi, “ I visited Bangalore!”

“Bangalore! “Clapped Addu in joy “That’s where my Grandma lives!”

“ I saw her too. Grandma misses you very much”

“Did you talk to her and tell her about my school?”

“ How can I !”Smiled Vriddhi  “You know very well that I am a Friend of only little kids like you!”

“ Oh yes ofcourse! You are  The Special Friend of  Children ….What did you do in Bangalore?”

“There is a girl  named Adithi in Bangalore just like you and I am her Special Friend too! I had taken her to The Milky Way …..I have Friends all over the world …..”
“ Are my cousins, Sia and Maya , in America , your friends too?”

“ Yes, they are! and a month ago, I had taken them on a trip to the Ice Age!”

“ But you  have not taken me on a picnic for a long time, Vriddhi !”

sulked Addu.

“Here I am  to take you!” Vriddhi laughed merrily “Tell me where you want to go!”

“I want to go to Dinosaur Land !”

“ Alright! So we will go to Jurassic Era today!  Are you sure you will not be afraid of Dinosaurs ?”

“ No! No! I love Dinos. ….Look at  this Dino bag I bought. And so many Dino toys  too !”

“Lovely! So, get ready now ! Lets go !”

Excited, Addu changed her dress and slipped into boots.

“Ready?” asked Vriddhi.

“Just a moment! I need to pack my band-aids…..” She opened  her back pack and quickly stuffed in a packet of band-aids, a hand sanitiser, tissues,  comb, tooth paste, soap and a few other things and slung it on her back.

“Ready !!!”

Holding hands, they both jumped out of the window.

Vriddhi took out a magic wand from her back pack and held it up. A glowing golden Halo spread around her.

“Hold this” She said and Addu took hold of one end of the wand while Vriddhi held the other end.

A sudden gust of whirling wind sucked up the girls and carried them away  to the sky…..and  left them floating in space.

It was so enjoyable, floating in cool space!  

Higher and higher they floated away, leaving the mountains and seas and jungles and rivers far,  far behind them.
